House Counsel Model: A Better Way of Providing Legal Services
Traditional Business models in the practice of law no longer meet the needs of many clients. The hourly rate imposes a wedge between the client and the attorney, creating an impact of compromising legal services. This is where our House Counsel Model impacts the way we do business
At SFPS we work very hard at developing a relationship with out clients. Our goal is to step beyond merely doing projects on behalf of clients and to move to a relationship in which we can truly add value to our clients as a going concern. Many clients realize that they have consistent needs for legal and business guidance, contract review, human resources and employment law, and all of the additional assistance necessary to develop a successful business enterprise. Nonetheless, these clients often find that employing in house counsel and developing the tools to run a successful legal support office are cost prohibitive. Likewise, engaging the services of a law firm can lead to hourly rates that are unpredictable and discourage use of necessary legal services. For this reason, SFPS has developed its House Counsel program. In essence, under this program, the client is billed a flat monthly rate based upon expected hours of service use, and SFPS serves the client's full legal needs, excepting only litigation issues. In this way, the client is able to budget its legal needs and without fearing the hourly rate every time he or she picks up the telephone. This program facilitates the development of the relationship between the client and SFPS, allowing us to get to know you, your business, your clients and your officers and employees. This developed relationship assists us in providing the client with quality, effective legal assistance. As opposed to employing a single attorney as "In House Counsel", our House Counsel program allows the client to use the entire resources of SFPS, its trained people, software support, and the infrastructure that we have developed through years of experience at a very reasonable cost. |
